Silver Marten is a particularly useful lesson in how breed names and color names travel. A Netherland Dwarf with marten markings should remain in a Netherland Dwarf profile. Conservation depends on recognizable breeding populations, not on collecting every rabbit that looks superficially similar. This library should preserve both the original breed's story and accurate captions for its varieties. Recovery can be celebrated while breeders continue to safeguard less common families and pass on knowledge of the pattern.
