What Conservation Legacy is
Conservation Legacy is an independently built conservation and education platform. It connects living animals, pedigrees, ranches, historical records, stories, research, learning, games and preservation work so important knowledge is easier to find, understand and carry forward.
The founding conservation world is the Pure Puerto Rican Paso Fino. The platform is designed to grow carefully into additional threatened breeds and species as the underlying research, records and community support are ready.
How the platform is funded
Revenue may come from advertising, affiliate relationships, sponsorships, educational products, subscriptions, marketplace services and other clearly identified commercial activity. In the early stages, that revenue supports the operation and continued development of Conservation Legacy, including hosting, software, research, data stewardship, content creation, equipment and compensation for the people doing the work.
Conservation Legacy is not currently represented as a 501(c)(3), and support is not promised to be tax-deductible.
Why sustainability is part of the mission
Conservation work requires time, technology, records, travel, equipment and skilled labor. Building a platform that can support its own operation makes it possible for the work to continue without depending indefinitely on unpaid labor or personal subsidy.
Where we want this to grow
As Conservation Legacy becomes financially sustainable, the goal is to expand direct conservation support through programs such as the Community Conservation Fund, preservation grants, emergency assistance, research, documentation projects and practical support for threatened populations.
When direct grant or conservation-fund programs begin, Conservation Legacy intends to publish clear information about what was funded and the outcomes those funds supported.
Independence and records
Conservation Legacy is not a horse registry and does not replace official breed organizations. Registry records, historical sources and contributed material are credited and distinguished from interpretation wherever possible. Uncertainty is kept visible rather than filled with guesses.
