Know when to call a veterinarian
Contact a veterinarian promptly for emergencies, severe pain, breathing difficulty, neurologic signs, major injury, uncontrolled bleeding, colic that is persistent or severe, foaling complications, rapidly worsening illness, or any situation where delay could threaten an animal's life or welfare.
Breeding and reproductive decisions
Pedigree analysis, COI, genetic diversity, age and preservation-priority information can support breeding decisions, but they do not determine reproductive soundness or guarantee a healthy pregnancy or foal. Older mares, stallions, embryo transfer, semen collection, cryopreservation and other reproductive procedures should be evaluated with qualified veterinary and reproductive professionals.
Medication, nutrition and procedures
Do not start, stop or change prescription medication, invasive procedures or high-risk treatment solely because of platform content. Nutrition, metabolic disease, toxic exposures and supplement use can also require individualized professional evaluation.
Sources and changing knowledge
