ARBA recognizes Black, Blue and White Beverens and lists a 12-pound maximum. The Conservancy describes the breed's mandolin-shaped outline. Regional references may discuss more varieties than the American standard accepts; that difference should be explained rather than hidden. Recognition is an institutional decision, not a universal biological law. A photograph from a European breeder may be useful, provided its location, variety and context are accurately labelled. For a modern American conformation discussion, use the applicable American standard rather than mixing requirements from several countries.
