Animal, landscape
and the people between them.

Rabbit introductions show why familiar domestic animals still belong in ecological teaching. The European rabbit has spread beyond its original range through human activity, and wild or feral populations can affect plants and land use. Domestic breed preservation should never be interpreted as a reason to release rabbits into the landscape.

Rabbit heritage can be accessible to readers with smaller properties, but accessibility is not the same as effortless care. A strong library joins coat and body characteristics to behavior, digestion and the breed's documented purpose. It also clearly separates conservation of a domestic breed from conservation questions involving wild European rabbit populations.
