ARBA lists a maximum of 7.5 pounds for the Standard Chinchilla. That limit is one concise way to compare it with the American and Giant breeds, but size alone cannot identify a rabbit of unknown background. A growing youngster from a larger breed may temporarily weigh less. A breed article should therefore distinguish mature standard limits from an individual's current measurement. Photographs identified by the breeder and records of age provide a better teaching example than a generic gray rabbit chosen only for its appearance.
