Surface color and undercolor tell different parts of the story

Knowledge for understanding and preserving Crème d’Argent.

The federation's description separates the creamy surface, orange underlying color and guard hairs. Those are different views of one coat rather than contradictory color names. An article can explain why a surface photograph may not show the full feature being described. This is a phenotype discussion; an exact breed-wide molecular genotype needs independent research. The existence of several Argenté breeds also demonstrates that a broad visual family need not be one conservation unit. Shared silvering should encourage comparison while keeping each population's identity and evidence separate.
