Pattern selection and conservation must work together
Knowledge for understanding and preserving Checkered Giant.

Checkered Giant — Watch. Current Conservancy list, checked October 4, 2026.
The challenge of producing precise markings can make this breed attractive to dedicated fanciers. An educational library should also ask what happens to animals that differ from the ideal pattern. Conservation should preserve knowledge of the whole breeding population, including the relationship between pattern inheritance and welfare. Do not let an attractive photograph imply that appearance alone defines either genetic health or conservation usefulness.
