Belgian Hare — Recovering. Current Conservancy list, checked October 4, 2026.

The Belgian Hare's story demonstrates that popularity and security are different things. A market can create many animals without creating a lasting network of skilled keepers. Its continuing survival is a reason to value patient breeders, practical husbandry and honest education. An engaging article can describe the boom without repeating spectacular historical sales figures as a measure of today's worth. Breed identity, welfare and a stable community offer a stronger foundation than novelty alone.
