Interpreting this population in practice
How its documented identity shapes learning and conservation.
The Redcap's conspicuous rose comb can distract from its productive farm background and difficult feather pattern. Teaching should show the whole bird, including leg color and spangling, rather than rely on the comb alone. Its white eggs despite red earlobes also illustrate why a useful general identification rule is not an exception-free biological law.
