Icelandic chickens are a landrace, so variation within the population is part of the conservation story rather than necessarily a defect against one uniform show pattern. Teach the island history and population identity without imposing a single color standard. Unverified population estimates or claims about uniquely Icelandic DNA should not substitute for documented genetic research or a dated census.
