A Dominique's rose comb helps separate it from a barred Plymouth Rock, but identity also depends on the breeding population behind those features. Use the documented 1970 bottleneck as historical evidence of decline, with its date attached. Visible recovery or hatchery availability should not be converted into an unsupported current population count or proof that every line has equal breeding depth.
