Interpreting this population in practice

How its documented identity shapes learning and conservation.

A heritage Cornish chicken is not synonymous with a modern Cornish-cross meat hybrid. Its compact, muscular structure belongs to a distinct breeding population and history. That distinction matters whenever growth, appearance or reproduction is compared. Teach the contribution of Cornish ancestry to commercial poultry without allowing the descendants' abundance to stand in for conserving the parent breed.
