Beltsville Small White history connects public research with a specific household market for smaller turkeys. Its modest adult size should be distinguished from the unrelated Midget White. White plumage alone cannot identify either population. Conservation teaching should connect the original breeding objective with natural reproduction and preserve the population rather than recreate a small white bird through unspecified crosses.
