American — Watch. Current Conservancy list, checked October 4, 2026.

American is an actual breed name, not a description for every rabbit kept in the United States. Educational captions should preserve that distinction. Its blue and white varieties deserve separate documentation within one breed world. Breeder knowledge about body shape, family history and reliable maternal performance is part of the heritage worth recording. A useful conservation library can explain how the breed developed without converting an uncertain foundation story into a proven genetic pedigree.
