The Rare Poultry Society describes the Sultan through a combination: crest, beard, facial muffling, small two-spiked comb, vulture-hock feathering, feathered shanks and five toes. White plumage alone is not sufficient identification. Its compact, deep body and low-carried wings also contribute to the breed outline. Illustrating the feet and head together helps distinguish it from other white crested or feather-footed poultry.
