Five toes within a distinct French body type

Knowledge for understanding and preserving Houdan.

The society's Houdan description calls for a broad, deep, lengthy body, short stout clean legs and five toes. A full crest and facial muffling complement that form. The British comb description is leaf-shaped, compared with a butterfly at the beak base; national standards can differ in head details. Identifying the jurisdiction avoids turning an exhibition difference into a claim that one photograph depicts an unrelated breed.
