Hamburg colors carry different regional breeding histories. Illustrate these separately when explaining penciling and spangling. Historical names such as Pheasant Fowl refer to resemblance, not evidence of a chicken–pheasant hybrid. Its story also shows that strong laying performance alone could not preserve market demand when buyers preferred different egg size or other breeds.
