Campines and Braekels have related Belgian histories, yet their names should not be treated as synonyms for any similarly patterned chicken. Male hen-feathering is part of the Campine's identity. Their generally non-broody behavior makes planned incubation important for renewal. The breed's active laying role and its ornamental pattern are complementary teaching subjects rather than competing descriptions.
